Executive Summary: This application is a city-initiated text amendment to increase the electronic message board allowance for free standing (monument) signs in the Institutional zoning district from 20 SF to 25 SF. The overall signage allowance will remain unchanged.
Presentation Information: Staff will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board approve the text amendment as recommended by staff.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Board amend the recommendation and approve the text amendment.
2. Move that the Board not approve and provide staff direction.
Background: There were no allowances for electronic message board/signage in Institutional zoning districts prior to 2023 other than time and temperature displays which were allowed in commercial and institutional districts. A text change (P23-059; Ord 23-83) was approved which permitted that 20SF of allowed signage could be electronic with design criteria provided. No changes to the overall sign allowances or the design criteria are proposed.
