This is a request to rezone approximately 0.23-acres from the Single-Family Residential (RS-2) Zoning District to the Institutional (I) Zoning District.

Executive Summary: The City of Port St. Lucie proposes to rezone one parcel totaling 0.23 acres, located on the south side of SW Thanksgiving Avenue, west of SW Airoso Boulevard and north of SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard. The request would change the zoning from Single-Family Residential (RS-2) to Institutional (I) with the intent to bring this City owned property adjacent to the City Hall Complex under the same zoning district. There are currently no proposed plans to construct any new buildings or structures on this property.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Board recommend approval of the rezoning request.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Board recommend denial of the rezoning request.
Background: There is a concurrent future land use amendment for these properties (P26-107).
Issues/Analysis: The proposed rezoning request for the property along SW Thanksgiving Avenue is consistent with the direction and intent of the City of Port St. Lucie Comprehensive Plan and Zoning Code. The Institutional (I) Zoning District is compatible with the proposed Institutional (I) future land use classification per policy 1.1.4.13 of the City’s Comprehensive Plan.
