Executive Summary (General Business): The proposed artwork includes a sculptural kinetic collaboration piece by J. Carvallo and Maria Andreina Gonzalez. The estimated footprint is 8' by 5' and the sculpture height is 9- to 12'. The piece will have a concrete stand and base that will serve as a seating area around it. The sculpture will be constructed of powder-coated aluminum pieces anchored to the concrete backing.

Presentation Information: The applicant will provide a presentation.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the resolution to approve the artwork as recommended by the Public Art Advisory Board.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and adopt the resolution.
2. Move that the Council not adopt the resolution and request the 1% payment in the amount of $33,134.16 into the City's Public Art Fund, or provide direction.

Background: All private development meeting the applicability requirements of the City's public art ordinance is subject to a public art assessment of one percent of the total dollar amount of a project's total construction costs. The public art assessment is capped at $100,000. In general, there are four methods available for development projects to satisfy the City's public art requirements. The first option is to provide artwork on site. The second option is to pay a fee in lieu and the third option is a combination of the two.
