Executive Summary (General Business): A proposed public art installation by artist Dale Rogers that satisfies the City's 1% public art requirement through on-site artwork. The installation is associated with the Project King Major Site Plan and consists of a three-dimensional sculpture inspired by the Import Mex brand identity which is designed to enhance the park's entry signage.
Presentation Information: The applicant and/or artist will provide a presentation.
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council adopt the resolution to approve the artwork as recommended by the Public Art Advisory Board.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and adopt the resolution.
2. Move that the Council not adopt the resolution and request the 1% payment, capped in the amount of $100,000, to the City's Public Art Fund or provide staff with further direction.
Background: On November 17, 2025, the Public Art Advisory Board unanimously voted to forward a recommendation of approval to City Council.
All private development meeting the applicability requirements of the City's public art ordinance is subject to a public art assessment of one percent of the total dollar amount of a project's total construction costs.
