FY 2021-2022 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Project Discussion

Executive Summary (General Business): The CDBG program provides federal funds for projects and programs that help improve the physical, economic, and social conditions of our community. Eligible projects must benefit low to moderate-income persons, address urgent needs or slum and blight. Staff is presenting eligible projects to the City Council to consider for funding.
Presentation Information: Various department representatives will be available to discuss their proposed projects and priorities for CDBG funding should the Council wish to have a discussion before voting on the recommended list.
Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council review eligible projects for inclusion in the 2021-2022 CDBG Action Plan. The Action Plan will come back to Council for final approval prior to submittal to HUD so staff has time to make changes to the list at the direction of Council. Any projects not selected will be left on the list and considered alternate projects (also shown on the attached Exhibit A) and funded if additional funding becomes available or if the primary projects finish under budget.
Background: The City is required by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to prepare an annual action plan report detailing our CDBG and housing activities for the coming year. The Action Plan report provides a concise summary of the actions, activities, and specific federal resources that will be used each year to address the priority needs and specific goals identified by the Consolidated Plan.
