Executive Summary (General Business): PSLPRD has recently achieved three major accomplishments - Agency Accreditation by the Commission for Accreditation of Park & Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), winner of 2021 Florida Recreation & Park Association (FRPA) Innovative Programming Community Building and winner of 2021 National Recreation & Park Association (NRPA) Innovation in Health Award.

Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council hear of PSLPRD's recent accomplishments.

Background: On December 3, 2019, PSLPRD announced to NRPA the Department's intent to pursue CAPRA accreditation. Once intent is received by NRPA, that agency has two years to assemble and submit their Final Report.

To receive CAPRA accreditation, of which 193 agencies of the nearly 24,000 park and recreation agencies nationally have achieved, PSLPRD had to demonstrate compliance for 36 fundamental standards and 118 non-fundamental, or 154 total standards. For initial accreditation, we were required to meet 92%, or 142, of these standards, and must continually meet additional standards in our future reaccreditation. Reaccreditation occurs every five years.

On September 23, 2021, NRPA announced, at their Annual Conference in Nashville, TN, that PSLPRD had achieved CAPRA accreditation.
