Executive Summary: The City of Port St. Lucie's Parks & Recreation department plans to pursue a $350,000 Recreational Trails Program grant for trail development at Torino Regional Park. Grant requirements include discussion of the project by the City's Planning & Zoning Board, as the City does not have a designated advisory board responsible for parks.

Presentation Information: Zakariya Sherman, Executive Project Manager will provide a brief presentation.

Staff Recommendation: To hear the presentation and discuss the grant, then move that the Board support the grant application.

Background: The City of Port St. Lucie's Parks & Recreation department plans to pursue a $350,000 Recreational Trails Program grant for trail development at Torino Regional Park. Grant requirements include discussion of the project by the City's Planning & Zoning Board, as the City does not have a designated advisory board responsible for parks. The Recreational Trails Program (RTP) is a federal grant initiative funded by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and administered at the state level by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in coordination with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The purpose of the RTP is to provide financial assistance for the development and maintenance of recreational trails, trailheads and trailside facilities for both nonmotorized and motorized recreational trail uses.
