Executive Summary (General Business): In honor of their service to our country, the attached program guide seeks an eligible Gold Star Family to assume ownership of a new home being constructed at 4626 SW Inagua Street. This is a follow-up to agenda item 2020-731 (September 28, 2020).
Presentation Information: N/A
Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the program information and authorize staff to proceed with the program as outlined.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the program information with modifications and authorize staff to proceed with the program.
2. Move that the Council not approve the program and provide staff direction.
Background: On September 28, 2020, the City Council authorized a partnership with Synergy Homes (contractor) to construct a single-family home on a city-owned lot and to work with local partners to develop a program that will identify and dedicate the home to a Gold Star Family or to a Veteran.
Issues/Analysis: Gold Star families will be given priority. Veterans will be eligible if there are no Gold Star families that qualify.
Financial Information: N/A - All costs associated with the construction of the home are the responsibility of project partner Synergy Homes.
Special Consideration: A Construction Kick-Off Event is scheduled for December 1, 2020 which also marks the opening of the two-week application period.
