6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: Purchase of a new Police Boat will allow our Marine Unit to conduct more efficient patrols and handle the large increase in boating traffic on our waterways. It will also assist with patrols when the Port District is completed and provide a safe environment for the Port District Grand Opening.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): Estimated expenditure is $193,103.58. Future expenditures will be appropriated in the approved budget for each fiscal year.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council waive the bidding per Chapter 35.08 (c) for good cause shown, and approve Sirocco Marine as the Vendor for the purchase of a new Police Patrol Boat. There are no agents or dealers authorized to represent this Patrol Boat.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the purchase of a new Police Patrol Boat.
2. Move that the Council not approve the purchase of a new Police Patrol Boat and provide staff with direction.

Background: The PSLPD Marine Unit's current Police Boat is outdated and does not provide the same capability that the PSLPD needs moving forward. Expanding patrols will provide the ability to combat the increased traffic on the waterway.
