Executive Summary (General Business): The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are a national, non-profit, non-political volunteer organization for women who are directly descended from a patriot of the American Revolution. They promote veteran's issues, historical preservation, educational scholarships and patriotism in their local communities. The local DAR chapter, St. Lucie River Chapter, wishes to donate a 24" x 24" bronze plaque commemorating the men and women who achieved American independence during the American Revolution 1775-1783.

Presentation Information: Brad Keen will introduce representatives from the local St. Lucie River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution who will donate a plaque to City Council.

Staff Recommendation: Request that the Council accept the bronze plaque commemorating the patriots who achieved American independence and authorize its placement on an exterior wall of City Hall, adjacent to City Hall's main entrance.

Background: For many years, the St. Lucie River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have presented/donated American flags to City Council so that they could be flown over City buildings and city park properties. In September 2023, the local DAR chapter contacted the City Council Office and offered to provide a Patriots Marker to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Nation's founding. The marker or plaque would commemorate the patriots of the American Revolution and be placed in or on the Port St. Lucie City Hall.
