Executive Summary (General Business): The Somerset Academy St. Lucie and the Somerset College Preparatory Academy seek continuance of the provision of School Resource Officer services from the City of Port St. Lucie Police Department through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for each school. The agreements provide for the schools to disperse funds received from the State of Florida through the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Act to fund the cost for Officer deployment.

 

Presentation Information: Staff will be available to respond if required.

 

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the MOA; one for Somerset Academy St. Lucie and one for Somerset College Preparatory Academy.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the MOA; one for Somerset Academy St. Lucie and one for Somerset College Preparatory Academy.

2.                     Move that the Council provide staff direction.

Financial Information: Total fund amounts from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Act are yet to be determined. The agreements provide that all Act funds received by each School shall be forwarded to the City for services reimbursement.
