body
Submitted By: John A. Bolduc, Chief of Police

Strategic Plan Link: The City's Mission to provide exceptional municipal services.

Executive Summary (General Business): The Port St. Lucie Police Department would like to expend $47,900 of forfeiture funds in accordance with F.S.S.932.7055(4). Once approved by the City Council, the funds can be incorporated into the City's budget via the budget amendment process.

Presentation Information: N/A

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the expenditure of the forfeiture funds.

Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the expenditure of the forfeiture funds.
2. Move that the Council not approve the use of the forfeiture funds and provide staff direction.

Background: The Port St. Lucie Police Department's Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) currently does not have a reliable response vehicle for active incidents that may occur in the City of Port St. Lucie. The CNT's existing mobile command post is unable to be utilized due to a vast number of mechanical and structural issues and has been taken out of service because of these hazards. Therefore, the CNT Unit is requesting a new T-250 van, which could provide a reasonable and maintenance friendly vehicle.

Issues/Analysis: N/A

Financial Information: The base price for a new T-250 High Roof Transit van is $27,900 and to retrofit the vehicle with options, as well as reconfigure the interior with workstations will cost an additional $20,000. The grand total required is $47,900.
