3. Purpose: To acquire real property located at 2692 SW Port St Lucie Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL, 34984 to improve access to the E-8 Canal.

7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): $28,000.00 plus cost of the appraisal, a title report and title insurance.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve of the acquisition of real property located at 2692 SW Port St Lucie Boulevard, Port St. Lucie, FL, 34984 to improve access to the E-8 Canal.
Alternate Recommendations:
1. Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the acquisition.
2. Move that the Council not approve the acquisition and provide staff direction.
Background: Over the years, Public Works has sought and acquired properties bordering critical drainage facilities. As infill development continues and the infrastructure ages, the need to improve access to these facilities is becoming more important. To that end, the FY 18/19 Budget includes $160,000 for the purchase of such properties. This property will be the first acquisition using these funds.
Issues/Analysis: Acquisition of this property will significantly improve access to a major drainage facility that discharges to the River. Without this property, maintenance access will be limited, and this will likely result in slowing emergency repairs and/or increased costs for maintaining the critical drainage facility.
Financial Information: This acquisition is $28,000.00 plus cost of the appraisal, a title report and title insurance. The funds for this acquisition are budgeted in the FY 18/19 Stormwater Fund.
