Executive Summary (General Business): The Port St. Lucie Police Department is requesting approval to expend $132,900 of forfeiture funds in accordance with F.S.S. 932.7055(4). Once approved by Council members, the funds will be incorporated into the City’s budget, via the budget amendment process.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council approve the forfeiture request.

 

Alternate Recommendations:

1.                     Move that the Council amend the recommendation and approve the expenditure of forfeiture funds.

2.                     Move that the Council provide staff direction and approve the expenditure of forfeiture funds.

 

Background: This request represents the initial Fiscal Year 2019-2020 expenditure for Fund 603, Forfeiture Funds.

 

Issues/Analysis: N/A

                     

Financial Information: The expenditure of funds reflects the following: $40,000 for forfeiture-related operational costs, $45,000 to support various Crime Prevention and community policing programs including, but not limited to, Roundtable of St. Lucie County, Castle, PB/TC 211, Boys & Girls Club, etc. As well, the department will be purchasing a Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) van in the amount of $47,900.
