3. Purpose: To install a pedestrian bridge to connect the Riverwalk boardwalks.

5. Duration: Approximately sixty (60) calendar days with no option to renew.
6. Benefits to Port St. Lucie: The existing pedestrian bridge access (sidewalk) needs repair as the banks of the canal are deteriorating. A delay in replacing the pedestrian bridge access could cause safety concerns.
7. Cost to Port St. Lucie (Annual and Potential): One-time expenditure of $532,730.20.

Staff Recommendation: Move that the Council waive the bidding, per Chapter 35.08(c), for good cause shown, and approve Contract #20240084 for the immediate need to install a new pedestrian bridge at Veterans Park at Rivergate with Brothers' Construction, Inc.

Background: The Port District Master Plan, adopted in July 2021, proposed a pedestrian bridge connection from Veterans Park at Rivergate to the Promenade, a mixed-use development. The pedestrian bridge being re-purposed was initially installed on Floresta Drive and provided pedestrian access across the Elkcam Waterway.
