Background: The City of Port St. Lucie was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and Urban Community Forestry totaling $1,000,000. The funds will be utilized for tree planting opportunities on public property and along sidewalk areas within disadvantaged communities. The awarded grant will increase the City's canopy coverage, improve pedestrian experiences, provide cooler temperatures, cleaner air, etc.
